This past Wednesday afternoon, we received an email from our adoption agency that we thought would end our India adoption journey. As we are finding through this adoption process, policies can change at any time, and this week, India made some changes about who would be allowed to be matched with children in need of adoption–a policy that we thought would disqualify us from the process.
So, Frank and I started praying…a lot!
We knew the Lord had led us to this point, so we prayed about whether this was the end of our journey or not and asked Him for a clear sign to show that He wanted us to stay with our agency and the India-track. Every time we have become discouraged or wondered if adoption was God’s will for us, He has always made it abundantly clear He was not finished with us yet.
This time was no different!
Friday afternoon…almost exactly 48 hours from when we read the email from the agency…48 hours from when we began to pray for wisdom from our great God about this process and whether or not we should continue…we received THE call! At this process, our agency would only call us for one reason and one reason only…
WE HAVE BEEN MATCHED!!
I couldn’t even stand during the call. My legs went weak, my hands were shaking, and yes, I might of cried…a lot! We can’t share anything else about her at this point for confidentiality reasons, but we are beyond excited about what this may mean!
So, what DOES this mean now?!
We need your prayers!
We have the next two weeks to review this little one’s file and pray about whether or not she is the one God has for our family. We need much wisdom for this decision. If we decide to accept, there is a lengthy process ahead of 9-12 months before we can bring her home.
Will you pray with us?
Many of you have already joined in praying us through this process, and we are so thankful for each one of you! I hope we will never stop thanking you for those prayers! We will certainly keep you posted as we make this decision! So stayed tuned…
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Ephesians 3:20-21
